The Research Laboratory of the Dairy Industry Innovation Institute is participating in a project organized by AOAC International aimed at validating a new analytical method – Official Method of Analysis℠ for the determination of lactose content in lactose-free and low-lactose products.
The Institute was invited to participate in the project due to its many years of experience in low-level lactose analysis. The Research Laboratory was one of the first European laboratories to receive accreditation for performing these analyses using an enzymatic method.
Currently, the first phase of the project has been concluded, consisting of interlaboratory comparisons designed, among other goals, to establish the precision parameters (repeatability and reproducibility) of the analytical procedure. This serves as a practical assessment of the measurement method's adequacy. One of the primary goals of standardization is to eliminate discrepancies between users of the proposed standard—namely laboratories—as far as possible. The data obtained from the experiment will demonstrate how effectively this goal has been attained.
Participating in the project on behalf of the Institute are: Director of Research Mariusz Śliwiński and Magdalena Świątek, PhD Eng.
