Student Visit to IIPM under the European Excellence in Dairy Learning Programme

Student Visit to IIPM under the European Excellence in Dairy Learning Programme

On December 3, 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting at our Institute a group of students majoring in "Food Safety and Certification" (3rd year) and "Food Technology and Human Nutrition" (4th year) from the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn, as part of the AEDIL Dairy (European Excellence in Dairy Learning) programme.

The students had the opportunity to learn more about the scope of IIPM's activities and our research and development infrastructure.

The President of the Institute, Prof. Andrzej Babuchowski, delivered a brief presentation on the mission and focus areas of the Institute, while Director of Research, Mr. Mariusz Śliwiński, guided the students through IIPM's laboratories and research facilities. In turn, Ms. Katarzyna Olszewska, Head of the Technology Laboratory, outlined the innovation development process and prepared and invited the guests to a consumer sensory evaluation of innovative products developed by the Institute for Dairy Cooperative Mlekpol.

Purpose of the Visit

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce students to IIPM's operational profile, covering both the organization and structure of the Institute, as well as practical aspects of research and technological work.

The visit programme included:

  1. Presentation of the organisational structure of IIPM and the scope of responsibilities of individual units.

  2. Introduction to the specifics of work and types of research conducted in individual R&D units.

  3. Familiarization with the quality management and control systems applied in our laboratories.

  4. Presentation of methods and equipment used in the laboratory for physicochemical and microbiological analysis of milk and dairy products.

  5. Familiarization with research techniques used in the evaluation of food packaging.

  6. Insights into methods and activities related to evaluating the food production environment and eco-friendly initiatives protecting the natural environment.

  7. Discussion of strategies applied in the development of new dairy products and their manufacturing technologies.

We are convinced that such meetings are extremely valuable. They allow students to see how theory connects with practice, and they give us the satisfaction of sharing knowledge and experience. We look forward to future opportunities for collaboration with the next generation of dairy professionals!
