Polish Experts Among the Laureates of the IDF Prize of Excellence 2025!

The International Dairy Federation (IDF) has announced that the prestigious IDF Prize of Excellence 2025 has been awarded to the LCA Action Team (Life Cycle Assessment). This distinction honors the exceptional contribution of experts who, through their knowledge and commitment, support the implementation of IDF's strategic program in the spirit of the SWIFT (Speed, Worldwide visibility, Impact, Focus, Transparency) principles.

The winning LCA Action Team consists of approximately 60 distinguished specialists from 22 countries, co-coordinated by Andrew Fletcher (New Zealand) and Anna Flysjӧ (Denmark). We are proud to announce that the members of the LCA team also include Polish experts: Andrzej Babuchowski and Janusz Turowski.

Key achievements of the LCA Action Team:

  • Introduction of the IDF Carbon Footprint Verification Tool – an innovative Excel-based tool enabling dairy organizations worldwide to independently verify carbon footprint calculations in accordance with the international IDF standard.
  • Strengthening the scientific credibility of environmental reporting – thanks to the harmonization of LCA methodology, the dairy sector can consistently and reliably assess and communicate its environmental impact.
  • Actions for sustainable water management – developing the “Water Footprint” methodology and preparing case studies supporting rational use of water resources.
  • Initiatives promoting global accessibility of environmental tools, including work on a simplified version of the carbon footprint calculation tool, adapted to diverse production capacities in different regions of the world.

Significance of the Award

The IDF Prize of Excellence is one of the highest distinctions awarded by the International Dairy Federation. Honoring the LCA Action Team confirms that the dairy sector consistently pursues ambitious goals in climate neutrality, data transparency, and scientific credibility.
